Corner Room
Okay, here we are on the 75th floor of the tallest hotel in Australia. We are at the Corner Room, at the very end of the hallway. This is unbelievable—they upgraded us to a room they don’t normally upgrade anyone to! It’s just because they thought it was special that this is my 145th Marriott property. We actually got upgraded to one of their huge suites on the 75th floor here in Melbourne, Australia.
So, here we are in this beautiful room. We have an amazing walkway as we enter, and I love these tiles on the floor—they’re all squares, and they’re just gorgeous. The black square tiling transitions to hardwood flooring, which then leads to this unique and beautiful carpet.
Welcome amenity
Wow, I don’t even know where to start! Right when we came in, they left us a beautiful amenity—some apple juice and a card. The general manager actually sat down and visited with us when we arrived, and he left us a note here. We also have a whole six-seat dining table with this really cool light fixture above it. This is absolutely amazing!
Well, we have this really cool glass mirror here with intricate diamond tiling—it’s just spectacular. The espresso machine, which is a brand standard, is accompanied by bottles of water. Typically, at the Ritz-Carlton, they are in glass bottles, but here they are plastic—still very nice.
There’s also a hot water maker and drinks available for purchase over there. Additionally, we have plenty of storage units here, along with the minibar down below.
Look at how big this room is! I still can’t believe we got this upgrade. As I mentioned, this isn’t a room they usually upgrade anyone to—not even ambassadors. It’s an extremely rare occasion when they do. So, don’t expect this room if you come—I can’t guarantee it. But I’m absolutely blown away by their kindness in giving us this upgrade.
I have to say, the architecture of this building is phenomenal. This hotel just opened earlier this year, in 2023, and the building itself is one of the coolest in the city. I believe it’s the second tallest building in Melbourne but the tallest hotel in the city—and, in fact, the tallest hotel in all of Australia.
Floor-to-ceiling windows
Take a look at these beautiful floor-to-ceiling windows. The gold accents are stunning, and I love how the windows tilt slightly—it’s just gorgeous. The design of this building is impeccable. The room also features automatic shades and curtains, all controlled with the touch of a button.
This room doesn’t just have a dining area; it also has a living room. I don’t even know where to start! There’s an oversized couch, two chairs, and so much space. There are only two of us, but this room could easily accommodate a whole family—or even a group of people. It’s massive!
The decor is also unique, featuring a cowhide-patterned rug that adds a distinctive touch. The coffee table is gorgeous, with its marble top, and that marbling design carries over to the oversized TV stand. While watching TV, you can also enjoy the best views in the city right outside the window.
If you’re looking for a luxury experience, even the basic rooms here offer views that are just as spectacular as this one. So, even the standard rooms are over the top, but having something like this suite is absolutely incredible.
wraparound layout
As we continue, you can see this amazing view here, and the room actually wraps around to the other side. This design allows us to enjoy the view from multiple angles, including into the bedroom. It’s a wraparound layout, so you can enter the bedroom from this side or from the other side as well.
Here are bedroom details
Let me take you into the bedroom from here, and we’ll explore the rest of the space. The bedroom itself features a sliding door, so if someone wants privacy, they can simply close it. On the sides of the room, there are these really cool control panels—you just tap them to open or close the sheers and control the lights. It’s such a sleek, modern device that I haven’t seen in any other property.
Now, here’s the beautiful bedroom. The bed is positioned perfectly to offer a stunning view. While lying in bed, you can literally look out the window at the incredible cityscape. This feature is consistent in every guest room—each bed is placed right by an amazing window.
There’s also another oversized couch in the bedroom. I assume it’s so you can sit closer to the window and enjoy the view, which is something you’d usually pay to see from a city observation deck. Here, it’s included with your room—a beautiful view to look out at anytime.
The bedroom also has a nice, oversized nightstand with plenty of space for your belongings. I love the unique lighting, especially the combination of the modern lamp here and the pendant light on the other side. They’re very stylish and modern—I definitely approve.
There’s also a mirror here, slightly tilted against the wall, which adds a nice touch. However, my one critique of this hotel is the flat wall behind the bed. It’s the same in most rooms—they’ve just added a metal art piece to it.
I wish they had done something like a wood design or incorporated a feature that extended from the wall all the way to the ceiling, as you see in many luxury properties. That would have added a more cohesive and upscale feel. However, the rest of the hotel and the overall room design more than make up for it. It’s still extremely inspiring.
There’s plenty of storage space below, and I love the unique dresser on that side. Its shape and color are so distinctive. It’s great how there are two different styles on either side, which adds a touch of variety.
On this side, we have another TV, which directly faces the bed. This setup is consistent across all the rooms. I also have to highlight the amazing bookshelf-like design here, complete with integrated lighting. Typically, only the best and most expensive rooms I’ve stayed in feature such unique, special pieces—whether it’s shelving units or custom wall features. This detail makes the room feel extra special, especially with the magazines neatly arranged and the chair offering another seating area.
This chair is positioned perfectly to face the incredible view. Now, as we continue wrapping around, we’ll enter the bathroom, which is connected to the room.
The room keeps going—we’re not done yet! We’re just now getting to one of the best bathrooms I’ve ever seen. You can actually see into the bathroom from the room, similar to the setup at the Westin Perth. Of course, this one fully closes for privacy.
Here are bathrooms details
You can have complete privacy in the bathroom, or if you’re in the bathtub, you can look up and over the bed to enjoy the beautiful view. I love when a room is designed so you can see the view from the bathroom—it reminds me of the Ritz-Carlton Perth room we had, which was just spectacular.
Alright, here we are back in the living room, but I want to show you the bathroom. You can enter it either from this way or directly from the hallway that leads to the bedroom.
This suite has one toilet room. Often, in suites, you’ll find two separate toilets, but there’s just one here. However, it does have its own door and is absolutely stunning. I love the black marble that extends from the floor halfway up the wall, transitioning to intricate indentations, and then to a full-sized mirror with a small sink. It’s so unique, so high-end, and just beautiful.
Now, let me show you the main bathroom—it’s truly spectacular. There’s a sliding door with a really neat glass piece I’ve never seen in a sliding door before. It’s slightly see-through, so keep that in mind, but it adds an elegant touch.
The main bathroom itself—wow, it’s a 10 out of 10 in terms of design inspiration. The black tiling is breathtaking, running from the ceiling to the floor. It’s so extravagant, expensive-looking, and undeniably high-end.
This hotel’s construction was funded by an investment group that is partially Chinese, which reminds me
It reminds me a lot of the luxury hotels in China because they’re so over-the-top—and that’s exactly the vibe I’m getting here. Wow! Not just in this bathroom, but throughout the entire hotel.
We’ve got two sinks, and the beautiful white tiling flows seamlessly into the tub area. The amenities are all here, and I’m especially thrilled to see they’ve included bath salts for the tub. The Ritz-Carlton Perth didn’t have them, which was disappointing, as bath salts really enhance the experience. So, I’m very happy about that.
The robes? I approve! They’re just like the ones at the Ritz-Carlton Perth—made by Frette, which is the brand standard. These robes are incredibly soft and plush—some of the best you’ll ever find anywhere in the world.
On this side, we have the stunning shower. I love how the black tiling continues up the walls, giving it a sleek and luxurious feel. On the back wall, the design shifts to a unique white pattern with geometric triangles that stretch all the way up. The way the tiling changes color, design, and pattern throughout the bathroom is just amazing—truly “wow.”
Here are showers details
The rainfall showerhead is another must-have for a luxury property, and this hotel doesn’t disappoint. It checks that box perfectly. They also use Diptyque amenities, which are now the brand-standard soaps for Ritz-Carlton. In addition to the rainfall shower, there’s a handheld showerhead.
The shower itself is spacious—not the largest I’ve seen, but definitely comfortable. And the combination of having both a shower and a tub is a big plus. When you’re in the shower or the tub, you can. If you leave the door open, you can look through the bedroom and enjoy the breathtaking view while relaxing in the bathroom.
Alright, the last thing I want to show you as we exit the bathroom is the closet space. It’s a beautifully designed, spacious closet with plenty of room to hang all your clothes. There are multiple sections for your pants, tops, and other garments. Inside, you’ll find another robe, which I also approve of—it’s just as luxurious as the first one.
The safe is located at the bottom, alongside an iron and ironing board. There are also slippers stored below, and I couldn’t resist taking them out to show you. Wow, just wow! Out of all the properties I’ve visited in Australia, these slippers are incredible. Look at how thick and soft they are—they’re fully cushioned and go above and beyond expectations.
While Frette is typically the brand standard for Ritz-Carlton, these slippers are exceptional. I give them an A+ for quality. It’s such a delight to find a luxury hotel that truly understands how to do slippers right.
Here are incredible properties details
Now, let’s head back through the hallway. I just want to say that overall, this property is absolutely exceptional. It’s not only the tallest hotel in Melbourne but also the tallest hotel in all of Australia. From the stunning architecture and impeccable building design to the flawless service we’ve received since arriving, everything has been beyond impressive.
From the moment we pulled up in our car to the moment we were escorted to check-in, every detail of the experience has been beautiful. The check-in process itself was smooth and welcoming, making us feel truly special. This has to be the best service I’ve ever received at any hotel worldwide.
But we’re just getting started—let’s explore more of this incredible property!
Welcome to The Ritz-Carlton Melbourne, Australia for travel in Australia. This is the second Ritz-Carlton in Australia and the highest hotel in the country. The property opened in March 2023 and is located on the western side of Melbourne’s Central Business District.
Uniquely, it occupies the top floors of the building—around floors 64 to 80—where the 80th floor serves as the check-in area. This is spectacular because many hotels around the world occupy the lower floors, but here, you’re at the top, enjoying unmatched views of the city.
The Ritz-Carlton Melbourne Details
The Ritz-Carlton Melbourne was designed by Australian architects, project designers, and planners who have been working on this remarkable project for over a decade. The result is truly stunning. The entrance is both welcoming and impressive, setting the tone for the luxury experience ahead.
From the moment we arrived, there were always staff members stationed by the doors to open them, which is such a spectacular touch. Many Ritz-Carlton properties I’ve stayed at often have staff absent from the main front doors, but not here. The warm and consistent welcome at the ground level is exceptional.
As you walk in, you pass by a beautiful piece of art by a local Melbourne artist called Liquid Marble. This marble-inspired design is absolutely gorgeous and adds a touch of local artistry to the luxurious atmosphere.
Now, let’s take the breathtaking ride up to the 80th floor for check-in. The main lobby on the 80th floor offers panoramic views of Melbourne’s skyline, including Victoria Harbour and the surrounding areas. There’s also a bar where you can enjoy light food and drinks.
While we were checking in, they offered us a welcome drink. I’m not sure if this is standard for all guests, but it was a beautifully thoughtful touch. The sophisticated decor and ambient lighting throughout the space add so much charm and inspiration to the experience.
From the 80th-floor lobby
we took the elevators down to the guest rooms. Our room was on the 75th floor, offering spectacular views. The property features 257 guest rooms, located between floors 65 and 79. Each room boasts floor-to-ceiling windows with stunning views that tower over every other building in the city.
The daytime views are breathtaking, but the nighttime views are equally mesmerizing. It was hard for me to go to bed—I found myself sitting in the living room, gazing out at the sparkling city lights. You truly feel like the king of the city, surrounded by such beauty.
Now, let’s head to the breakfast area to start the day. The setting here is elegant, featuring a variety of local and seasonal ingredients. However, breakfast is not included unless you specifically book the breakfast package. Even Elite members are required to pay for it.
The breakfast we enjoyed at the hotel was truly worth it. The service was fantastic, and everything we tried was absolutely delicious. The staff consistently checked in on us, providing A+ service. With the stunning views and serene ambiance, be sure to give yourself plenty of time—you’ll want to savor every moment.
Atria, the hotel’s fine dining restaurant, is gaining a reputation as one of the city’s best. It’s celebrated for its breathtaking views, elegant design, and impeccable service. Atria’s culinary philosophy centers on locally sourced ingredients and innovative dishes. Although we didn’t have the chance to dine there, I did tour the space and look at the menu. If I return, it’s a must-try for me. The restaurant features a sushi bar, talented chefs, and exquisite nighttime lighting that pairs beautifully with the city lights for an unforgettable dining experience.
For a more relaxed evening, the Cameo cocktail bar is an excellent choice. This stylish and modern bar offers a wide range of expertly crafted cocktails and drinks. They also serve light bites, and occasionally, there are DJ performances or live music to enhance the ambiance.
Like all Ritz-Carlton properties, this hotel includes a Club Lounge. However, note that access is not complimentary regardless of your Marriott Bonvoy status—it’s a paid upgrade. We didn’t opt for the Club Lounge access during our stay, but I did take a tour. While it offers a more private setting with attentive staff and private meeting areas, I personally preferred paying for breakfast and dinner in the restaurant. The lounge serves five food spreads daily, making it a good choice for those seeking privacy and convenience.
Highlights
Now, onto one of the highlights of this property—the spa and infinity pool on Level 64. This is undoubtedly one of my favorite hotel pools in the world, alongside the Ritz-Carlton Hong Kong pool. The infinity-edge pool overlooks the city skyline, offering spectacular views. It’s even open in the evening, allowing guests to enjoy the shimmering city lights. The space is beautifully designed, with ambient lighting and even a live tree adding a unique touch to the atmosphere.
The locker rooms feature a Vitality Pool, sauna, and steam room, which are all complimentary for guests. It’s a nice touch, as it should be at any luxury property—especially considering the high cost of staying here. The sauna is particularly special, offering stunning views of the city while you relax inside. You’re literally towering over the city, which makes it a unique experience.
The property also boasts a state-of-the-art fitness center, which I absolutely loved. One of my favorite features is the view—it’s incredible to run on the treadmill while overlooking the city. The gym is well-equipped with free weights and other workout equipment, making it a great spot to stay active during your visit.
Now, for my review of the incredible Ritz-Carlton Melbourne | Best hotel Travel in Melbourne Australia
Room
5 out of 5. This was one of the best suite upgrades I’ve ever received. Keep in mind, this was a very special one-time occasion, as this is not a room typically upgraded for Elite members. However, the top upgrade room here is the panoramic room, which offers breathtaking views of the city. It’s still a spacious and gorgeous room that would be an amazing experience for anyone.
Inspiration
5 out of 5. This is one of the most inspirational hotels I’ve ever stayed at. The building itself is the tallest hotel in the Southern Hemisphere, not just Australia, but the entire Southern Hemisphere of the world. The views are unparalleled, and no other hotel in the region will offer this kind of height and perspective. The interior design, architecture, and overall ambiance are exquisite. The property was built by Chinese investors, and the opulence reminds me of the Ritz-Carlton in Xian, China—extravagant and detailed in every way.
Service
5 out of 5. Beyond perfect. Every staff member was incredibly professional, kind, and courteous. From the moment we arrived with our vehicle, the team opened the doors, escorted us inside, and guided us to the elevator. Every step of the service was seamless and thoughtful, making us feel truly valued as guests.
The service continued to be exceptional as we headed up to the 80th floor to check in. As soon as we exited the elevator, the staff was right there, ready to assist us. The service is consistently personalized, thoughtful, and caring throughout the entire stay. We’ve made a lot of new friends here because the staff is so genuine and kind. While many other hotels can achieve perfect service scores, this one goes above and beyond. It truly is the best of the best.
Value
5 out of 5. Would I recommend this hotel and return? Absolutely! If I’m coming back to Melbourne, this is the top hotel, not only in the city but also in the surrounding areas of Australia, aside from the Ritz-Carlton Perth (which also received a perfect score). This hotel is phenomenal—unbeatable views, heartfelt service, and an unforgettable, once-in-a-lifetime experience. Staying here is like getting the thrill of an attraction or theme park. It’s worth every penny, and you’ll never regret it.
As for pricing, it can get a bit expensive. The basic room typically ranges from $400 to $500 per night, and the suite we stayed in is priced around $1,800 a night, though it can drop to about $1,200 depending on the time of year. It’s very spacious, with plenty of room for several guests, and it offers a dining area with a table. If you’re looking to redeem points, it typically requires around 50,000 to 70,000 points, depending on the night. If the points required are around 60,000 or less, I’d recommend redeeming them. Otherwise, consider paying cash based on the price range for that night.
